| Playing and Coaching Profile | I began playing tennis way back in 1966 and started playing in my first tennis competitions at a local club level. I soon went on to master and win both Junior and Women's singles titles playing at this club level and knew It was time to progress and challenge myself further. Whilst I was playing in the U/19's division I held a New Zealand national ranking of 4. In 1989 I began my tennis coaching career as I knew this was the career that I wanted to pursue and loved doing. Between the years of 89-91 I was employed as the Junior tennis coach and club's Administrator at a local tennis club in New Zealand. My primary responsibility began as running individual and group coaching sessions for junior players at a beginner/intermediate level. My job soon diversified as I became responsible for coaching senior players on an individual basis, I also took control of devising the junior development program where I combined competitions, games and fun activities into coaching sessions. I even went as far as organising a fun teams even where teams could enter into a social interclub competition. |
